Scott Weiner

Scott Weiner is a partner in real assets at Apollo Global Management and heads the firm’s commercial real estate debt business. His responsibilities cover performing loan origination, acquisitions and asset management, including first mortgages, mezzanine and preferred equity investments, and commercial mortgage-backed securities across managed accounts. He also oversees Apollo Commercial Real Estate Finance (NYSE: ARI) and serves as chief investment officer of the manager of that publicly traded mortgage REIT. Apollo’s current biography describes his remit as real estate debt, rather than the broader real estate equity platform. Apollo leadership biography

Before joining Apollo in 2009, Weiner was a managing director at Barclays Capital, where he led the group responsible for large mortgage loans and structured finance transactions. Earlier, at Lehman Brothers, he was a senior vice president in commercial real estate finance and specialized in structured first-mortgage, mezzanine and preferred-equity investments. The progression links his current investment role to earlier work structuring and originating real estate credit through two major financial institutions. Apollo leadership biography

At Apollo, Weiner’s remit connects private and public real estate credit: the investment team originates and manages debt positions for accounts, while ARI provides listed-market exposure through a dedicated mortgage REIT. His role therefore centers on underwriting and managing credit risk across loan structures and investment vehicles, rather than on direct ownership and operation of property. Apollo lists Weiner as a partner based in New York and notes that he graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in international studies. Apollo leadership biography
