Fitzgerald began in real estate at Rouse/Liberty Property Trust and helped that office and industrial REIT go public in 1994, according to industry material. He founded Exeter Property Group in 2006 and led its growth into an institutional investment manager. EQT acquired Exeter in 2021, creating EQT Exeter; Fitzgerald remained global head until stepping down in 2024. EQT named Henry Steinberg to succeed him. Fitzgerald subsequently formed ExCorde Capital, where he leads a team covering acquisitions, development, leasing, property management and capital solutions.
