Career and Focus

Roth has been a general partner of Interstate Properties since 1968 and remains its managing general partner. Vornado’s official biography records his appointment as board chair in 1989 and his first CEO tenure through May 2009; he returned as CEO in April 2013. He is also chairman and CEO of Alexander’s, Inc., a separate listed REIT in which Vornado holds a significant interest. His career combines principal investing in retail properties with public-company leadership and the assembly and redevelopment of large urban assets.

Vornado’s portfolio is concentrated in Manhattan, with additional landmark assets in Chicago and San Francisco. The company owns and operates office and retail properties, including major Manhattan commercial districts and assets such as The MART in Chicago. Roth’s leadership has spanned multiple market cycles and the evolution of New York’s office market, with recent company reporting emphasizing repositioning, leasing and capital investment in the core portfolio.
