Career and Focus
Rubano spent more than 13 years at Eastdil Secured before joining Cushman & Wakefield in 2018. At Eastdil, he helped run the debt placement business; at Cushman & Wakefield, his remit grew to lead the national debt and structured finance platform. The firm identifies him as an executive vice chairman based in Century City, Los Angeles. His work includes first mortgages, mezzanine loans, B-notes and preferred equity, covering different points in the real estate capital stack.
Rubano’s financing assignments span multiple U.S. regions. In a 2020 interview, he described work on Related Companies’ acquisition of the 30 Hudson Yards office condominium, including negotiation of $1.4 billion of debt as part of the transaction. Los Angeles Business Journal reported that in 2022 he closed or had under contract 64 financings totaling more than $9.1 billion. That is a dated, publication-reported annual volume, while his current company biography attributes more than $90 billion in career transactions. Loan volume measures advisory activity, not assets owned or capital invested by Rubano. His coverage of first mortgages, mezzanine debt and preferred equity gives him a broad capital-markets role serving owners across property types.
