Rick Caruso

Rick J. Caruso founded Caruso in 1987 and serves as its executive chairman. The privately held company develops and operates retail, residential and mixed-use destinations as well as hotels and resorts. His best-known developments include The Grove in Los Angeles, The Americana at Brand in Glendale, Palisades Village, and the Rosewood Miramar Beach resort in Montecito. The company’s approach combines open-air retail streets, restaurants, entertainment, housing, and hospitality to create destination districts; Palisades Village was designed as a contemporary neighborhood center, while Americana at Brand added housing above retail and public space. Caruso has also held civic roles, including president of the Los Angeles Police Commission, and ran for Los Angeles mayor in 2022. His public profile is therefore broader than development, but his main business record remains the ownership and operation of Southern California retail, residential, and hospitality properties. The company continues to identify him as executive chairman. Caruso leadership · Caruso portfolio
