Career and Focus

Primo began his career in real estate lending at Citicorp Real Estate in 1979. In 1988 he launched Quintin Primo and Company, an investment banking business, and in 1992 partnered with Daryl Carter to establish Capri Capital Management, the predecessor to Capri Investment Group. Capri grew from a lending and capital-markets business into a manager advising institutional investors on real estate investment strategies. The company’s current profile identifies Primo as founder and executive chairman, while Dawil R. Sully serves as president and CEO.

A historical account by The HistoryMakers describes Capri’s focus on financing underserved urban markets and reports that the firm launched an early mezzanine investment program. This work connected commercial real estate lending with the capital needs of urban owners and developers during the 1990s and early 2000s. Primo’s later role centered on platform leadership, investor relationships and strategy rather than day-to-day execution of every investment. He earned a BS in finance from Indiana University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. His career is also notable for increasing the presence of Black-led firms in institutional real estate investment management.
