Miguel Ko

Miguel Ko is chairman and a non-executive, non-independent director of CapitaLand Investment, the Singapore-listed real asset manager. His career spans hotel operations, consumer markets and property investment across Asia-Pacific, including leadership of Ascendas-Singbridge before its combination with CapitaLand.

Career and Focus

Ko’s earlier career moved between consumer business and hospitality. From 1992 to 1999 he was president of Pepsi-Cola International’s Asia-Pacific business, with responsibility for expansion into markets including China, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. He then joined CDL Hotels International as deputy chairman and chief executive. At Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, he served as president of Asia-Pacific from 2000 to 2009, then chairman and president through 2012, followed by non-executive chairman for the region through 2015.

In June 2015 Ko became executive director and group CEO of Ascendas-Singbridge, a property and infrastructure group created through the merger of Ascendas and Singbridge. CapitaLand acquired its business and assets in 2019; Ko then led CLA Real Estate Holdings, the renamed entity, through 2020. CapitaLand’s official records place him on the group board from 2019 and as chairman of CapitaLand Investment from June 2021. He is also deputy chairman of CapitaLand Group and a corporate adviser to Temasek International Advisors. His current CapitaLand Investment role is non-executive, so it is distinct from group CEO Lee Chee Koon’s management position. Ko holds a BA in economics from the University of Massachusetts Boston and an MBA from Suffolk University, and is a certified public accountant in New Hampshire.
