Career

Kite began his career in 1987 at Harris Trust and Savings Bank in Chicago. He joined the family’s real-estate business in 1990 as CFO of Kite Development, became president of KMI Realty Advisors in 1994 and president of the Kite Companies in 1997. He led the predecessor companies as president and CEO before the 2004 IPO of Kite Realty Group Trust. Kite became chairman in 2008 and remains CEO. The company identifies strategy, operations, acquisitions and capital-markets activities as his current remit. He holds an economics degree from DePauw University.
