George Marcus
George M. Marcus founded the real estate brokerage Marcus & Millichap in 1971 and remains chairman of its parent company. He also founded and chairs Essex Property Trust, a publicly traded apartment REIT focused on coastal West Coast markets. He built Marcus & Millichap around specialized investment-property sales, financing, and advisory services, and has remained its chairman for more than five decades. The public brokerage is one part of a wider parent group with residential development and investment businesses.
