David Martin
David Martin is chief executive of Terra, the South Florida development company he co-founded with his father, Pedro Martin, in 2001. He oversees development, design, construction, financing, marketing, sales, and leasing across a portfolio that Terra says exceeds eight million square feet and spans residential, retail, office, hotel, and industrial property. His work has centered on Miami and nearby South Florida communities, where Terra has paired high-design residential projects with larger mixed-use and transit-oriented plans. Examples include Grove at Grand Bay and Park Grove in Coconut Grove, Eighty Seven Park in Miami Beach, and Grove Central, a mixed-use project beside the Coconut Grove Metrorail station that links housing and retail with public transit and the Underline. In interviews, Martin has described Terra’s approach as neighborhood-focused: identify local needs and use design-led projects to address them. Terra’s own profile credits collaborations with architects including Rem Koolhaas/OMA, Renzo Piano, and Bjarke Ingels; those projects illustrate a development strategy built around architect-led residences and urban placemaking rather than a single property type.
