Career and Focus

Related Companies named Bailey president of Related Midwest in 2008. Before joining, he held executive positions at Archon Group, Opus North and Duke Realty. At Duke he oversaw nearly $1 billion of projects under development and sourced new opportunities, according to Related’s appointment announcement. His current portfolio at Related Midwest spans residential, mixed-use and master-planned developments. The company credits him with work on One Bennett Park, The Row Fulton Market and 400 Lake Shore Drive.

Bailey’s current projects vary in scale and status. The 78 is a 62-acre downtown Chicago plan for a new mixed-use neighborhood. Quantum Shore is a 440-acre South Chicago master plan, being developed by a Related Midwest and CRG joint venture; its first phase includes a quantum and microelectronics campus and a planned hospital. Related identifies Bailey as the company leader for these projects, but they are still in development rather than completed assets. He also supported Affordable Illinois legislation incentivizing developers to set aside 20% of new housing units for low-income residents. His work combines private development, public approvals, neighborhood planning and affordable housing policy. He holds a BA from the University of Colorado Boulder.
