Career and Focus
Robins founded Dacra in 1987. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the company restored Art Deco landmarks in South Beach and developed commercial and cultural activity along Lincoln Road and Espanola Way. He later acquired land in the then-neglected Miami Design District and began building a creative neighborhood with fashion, design, food and art. Dacra’s strategy links property development to public art, programming and destination identity, aiming to attract tenants and visitors while strengthening the district’s value.
In 2010 Dacra partnered with L Real Estate, now L Catterton, to form Miami Design District Associates and expand the district. The 18-square-block area includes retail, offices, restaurants and public art and has received LEED Gold neighborhood certification. Dacra also developed AQUA on Allison Island, a residential community combining modern architecture with contemporary art. Robins co-founded Design Miami in 2005, extending his involvement in design beyond property development. He studied at the University of Michigan and earned a JD from the University of Miami. His work offers a notable example of district-scale, culture-led urban redevelopment in Miami.
