Craig Hall
Craig Hall founded HALL Group in 1968 and serves as its chairman and CEO. He began with an apartment purchase at age 18 and built a portfolio that the company says reached more than 72,000 units by the mid-1980s. After the downturn from the mid-1980s through the early 1990s, Hall exited apartment ownership and shifted toward commercial development and lending. The present platform spans commercial property ownership, development and management, structured finance, wine and early-stage investments. Updated
In the mid-1990s, Hall launched HALL Structured Finance, which the company says has originated more than $5 billion in loans, primarily for multifamily and hospitality projects. Its construction-loan program offers non-recourse financing and flexible structures to developers across the United States. Hall’s development work includes HALL Park, a 162-acre Frisco campus transitioning toward a mixed-use district, and HALL Arts in Dallas’s Arts District. In 2025, he described the lending arm’s return to office financing as selective, focused on well-located properties and borrowers able to execute upgrades; this illustrates his current credit-market view, rather than a general claim that all office assets are recovering.
