Capuano joined Marriott in 1995. Before his appointment as CEO in February 2021, he served as Group President for Global Development, Design and Operations Services from 2020 to 2021 and as executive vice president and global chief development officer from 2011 to 2020. Leadership Scope

Marriott operates through a mix of managed, franchised, and licensed lodging brands, so Capuano's position spans relationships with hotel owners and franchisees as well as brand strategy and corporate operations. The 2026 proxy describes his responsibility for company strategy, performance, culture, and executive succession. Marriott's asset-light structure means the brand network is broader than the real estate it owns directly.
